DECORATING

Exterior:

Lime wash paint – Lime wash paint is a form of traditional paint we offer to our clients. It is produced by crushing and burning limestone. Before the lime putty can be transformed into lime wash paint, it has to mature for several months to be able to be thinned. Once this process is completed, it can be thinned and mixed with different colours. Lime wash paint gives a beautiful matte finish with some subtle texture.
Silicate mineral paint – Silicate paint is highly breathable, acid proof from acid rain, waterproof but allows moisture to evaporate. Once silicate paint is dried it will be exposed to the suns UV rays. However, it will not be affected ensuring the colour will not fade.

I recommend the use of a silicate masonry paint for all new external lime renders for maximum breathability and protection.  Alternatively,  lime wash can be used for a more traditional finish or if stipulated by the conservation officer, for example.

Internal:

Earth born paint – This paint has been designed for the external renovation/decoration of walls; however, it can also be used internally. Earth born paint is also another form of paint that is highly breathable allowing moisture to pass through or evaporate. It is waterproof, weatherproof, and highly durable. This paint is best used on mineral surfaces (plaster surfaces, stone, concrete, masonry, and peddle dash).

A wide range of interior paints are available for use depending on the desired finish and function.

Some examples are as follows :

Lime wash has a very traditional,  irregular appearance in keeping with very old cottages and farmhouses.

Clay paint offers maximum breathability with a more uniform appearance and beautiful,  ultra matt finish.

Breathable emulsions are a good for a familiar finish in a wide range of colours.
